Linda D., RN

Celebrating 50 Years of Nursing Excellence

Linda D., RN began her nursing journey after graduating nursing school in 1975, launching a remarkable career dedicated to caring for patients and advancing the nursing profession.

She began her career in medical-surgical nursing before moving to Atlanta in 1976, where she joined the ICU team at Emory University Hospital. During her time there, Linda cared for some of the first renal transplant patients — helping shape critical care during a groundbreaking era of medicine.

In 1980, Linda transitioned into PACU nursing, where she continued to build an impressive career spanning decades. Her nursing journey later brought her to Florida, where she worked within HCA hospitals in St. Petersburg and also contributed her expertise within the operating room setting.

Beyond her clinical excellence, Linda has remained committed to the values of service, accountability, and integrity throughout her career. A lifelong conservative voice in nursing, Linda proudly celebrated 50 years as a nurse in May 2025.

Today, NARN proudly recognizes Linda D., RN as our very first Nurse Hero — honoring a career defined by dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to patients and the profession.

Strong Nurses. Strong Nation.
